Yerevan
May, 2025

I ended up in Yerevan just in transit, and since I had the chance, I decided to step into the city for a short while and get to know Armenia, at least within the borders of one city.
On the way from the airport, I kept thinking that all the real beauty must be outside Yerevan: when you look up interesting locations on Google, most of them are day trips into nature. I definitely wouldn’t have had enough time for that — I was limited in time. Maybe it will happen in the future. I would really like that.

My friend Nastya gave me plenty of recommendations on what to do in the city. Naturally, the first stop was the very center.
The Cascade is an architectural and truly impressive structure. I climbed the stairs all the way to the top to embrace the city with my eyes. It was so sunny and warm that I just sat there for a few minutes, completely still, taking it all in. A month of adventures was ahead of me, and this was the first stop, so I tried to absorb every ray of sunlight.

Not far from the square, there is a place called Lumen Coffee 1936, and I headed there for lunch. I liked the interior and the food — I would definitely return next time.
After that, I went to Republic Square and, following the recommendations, stopped by Abovyan 12.

Overall, the city felt small and cozy: street musicians, happy faces everywhere, fountains, small markets with fruits and vegetables. And to finish it all — a bright sunset.
That’s how Yerevan stayed with me.

1.Nastya, if you’re reading this, hello haha.
You’re that little ray of sunlight that appears exactly when it’s needed.
This short escape into the city happened thanks to you, and now these memories will always be tied to you.
